Lai-momo social cooperative: community, world, culture

Lai-momo is a social cooperative active in the fields of immigration, social communication, intercultural dialogue and development.

Social and Immigration – Lai-momo implements projects aimed at generating a social impact in communities and territories: it offers orientation and information services for citizens of foreign and local origin, carries out research and consultancy projects for public administrations, schools and companies, offers linguistic-cultural and conflict mediation activities, job accompaniment, legal counselling, teaching Italian L2, and reception of asylum seekers and refugees. It also runs community development-oriented initiatives.

Social Communication – Lai-momo has taken and continues to take part in numerous communication, research and cooperation projects with national and international partners in various fields: from intercultural dialogue to understanding the global interdependencies that determine migration flows; from learning digital skills for job placement to training in craft professions and business management; from education for critical consumption to a gender approach in social issues to communicating public development aid.

Publishing and culture – Lai-momo is a publisher and cultural agent specialising in African artistic productions and cultural changes due to migratory movements – mainly through the biannual magazine Africa e Mediterraneo. Finally, it is co-manager of the Africa e Mediterraneo Archive on African comics, the world’s most important collection of original publications and documents on the subject.

With more than 20 years of work in these three areas, Lai-momo cooperativa sociale has built up its wealth of knowledge.

The Staff

The people who work with Lai-momo cooperativa sociale apply different skills every day: research, digital communication, language education, cultural animation and event organisation, project writing, editing and publishing, graphic design, cultural mediation, ethno-psychological supervision. In addition, Lai-momo’s approach is based on the use of specific methodologies, such as community development, conflict mediation, creative and media education workshops, active research and job training.
