Social Assistance Project taking place in coordination with the Urban Redevelopment Plan for the residential complex “Garibaldi 2” in Calderara di Reno (Bologna)

The main objective of the project is to provide social and community assistance in the apartment block “Garibaldi 2”, located in Calderara di Reno, as part of the Urban Redevelopment Plan being carried out by the Municipality of Calderara di Reno and by the Emilia Romagna region. The aim is to work alongside the Urban Redevelopment Plan to resolve one of Emilia Romagna’s biggest problems of urban social decay, crime and ostracism. Many of the residents of this residential are from Morocco, Pakistan and Romania. Since 2007 Lai-momo has been responsible for organizing reporting activities, providing solutions to engage disadvantaged people in the job market, carrying out linguistic-cultural mediation (in Arab, Urdu and Romanian); providing communication and information for all citizens, providing conflict mediation services and monitoring structural planning for the assimilation of families into new housing structures.

Participatory communication: Lai-momo also organises social art initiatives and educational and creative workshops for native and migrants citizens, in order to produce participatory communication products (leaflets, exhibitions, plays etc.).
Lai-momo recently published the catalogue “Fili di vita trame di comunità 09-10” which contains a description of the project and the artistic material produced during the laboratories.
