School and education

Â
Schools represent a unique place from which to observe the concrete and day-to-day consequences of the phenomenon of immigration, the impact of multiculturalism on relationships and the essential transformations that have taken place in terms of the didactic methodologies used to teach students.
Â
Schools constitute a sphere in which exchanges take place between students, teachers, families, public services and ministries on a daily basis. The interests and needs of each of these groups and the roles they play combine to produce new cultural syntheses, which in turn influence and change the individual cultural spheres which produced them.
Â
The aim of the work that we carry out in schools is to make these cultural syntheses more meaningful. We do this by providing the following services: Media education and intercultural workshops (producing comic strips, videos and advertising) Literacy classes – Italian L2 Educational support in various school subjects Teacher training Consultancy services Conferences and exhibitions Printed and digital communication campaigns.
Â
Our activities target key operators in the school system, including teachers, students, the families of students, public administration systems and educational institutions.
Â
In the last 12 years we have build up a network of schools in 7 Italian regions. We have worked with thousands of students and hundreds of teachers, with the aim of producing a culture of openness, in which people do not fear change, but see it instead as a challenge which will allow them to grow and better themselves.
We carry out this work by means of media education. Media education is a very useful tool for 2 reasons: 1) The media is the main source of education for young people, who are becoming ever more independent from their parents, whose schools are beginning to lose the influence they once had, and who are experiencing the gradual breakdown of society. 2) Media education offers useful educational opportunities, allowing children to realize their potential in ways in which they are unable to do within the formal school curriculum.
